Spring has sprung

At least for a little while, it's spring in San Jose.
I sat in the sun and finished my book.
I sat in the sun and ate macaroni and cheese.
I sat in the sun and pulled my jeans up over my knees and said "damn I'm white".
I sat in the sun and painted my toenails.
I sat in the sun and flexed my bicep and contemplated how pathetically weak I am.
I sat in the sun and talked with Caden.
I sat in the sun and just....sat.
I also hit some plastic balls around the yard with Caden and as usual started singing "I did it like this, I did it like that, I did it with a wiffle ball bat so........"
I love spring.

Yes, the sun came up yesterday and it was the warmest it's been since December. What did that mean for us in Alberta Canada?

1. Going outside without a hat
2. Going outside without a jacket, but still a sweater.
3. Snow is melting so it's time to shovel the driveway only to find that there's 2 inches of ice built up on the driveway and the sidewalk. After an hour of grueling work I quit with almost half the driveway cleaned off.
4. All the meltwater from the day froze at night and everything became slippery.
5. It rained. That means more ice.

In Edmonton, we don't have spring. The season has been replaced by a new season...thaw. The snow melts, and life is icky for a month. Then summer.

You're lucky! It's been raining heavily here in Melbourne for 26 hours straight now. And there is no sign of it letting up, either...

CL, you suck. In Tennessee, we have three seasons: Hot season, Cold season, and Mosquito season. We have no idea what the hell you're talking about when you mention "Spring."

Must be nice to live in California. The weather has been "nice" here in Toronto too. Which means it is just above freezing and everything is wet and gross from the snow melting. There's nothing beautiful about the brown slush snow turns into after cars have been driving over it.

Update for anyone who cares -

Now 37 hours straight of non-stop heavy rain in Melbourne. What a city...

I did the same thing as wissn. And now I have the blinds in my office closed because I have an intense headache brought on by the glare of the sun on my computer monitor.

I was in San Jose yesterday. Dang it was beautiful! I actually have been enjoying walking to class these days! Even past People's Park, the bums on Telegraph, everything. I'm in my own sunny world (with headphones of course - some people just CAN'T be ignored).
